Network Health’s VP and CMO Deborah Gordon Named to Boston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40”
MEDFORD, Mass. — Network Health, a Massachusetts health plan that provides coverage to nearly 180,000 Massachusetts residents with low and moderate incomes, announced today that its vice president and chief marketing officer, Deborah Gordon, has been named to the Boston Business Journal’s “40 Under 40” list. Each year, this renowned award recognizes 40 of Boston’s most influential business and civic leaders under age 40; 2011 is the 14th year of the program.
Gordon, 39, has been a key driver of Network Health’s vision, strategy, and dramatic growth since she joined the organization in 2004. Under Gordon’s leadership, the Network Health marketing team has helped increase the health plan’s membership by nearly 160%, and has received more than 100 local, regional, and national marketing awards for its efforts.
Network Health is viewed as a role model for other health plans across the country, as it leads the Massachusetts managed care organization market in terms of low administrative costs and medical loss structure. Network Health is also one of the few Medicaid plans to successfully experiment with payment reform and Accountable Care Organization (ACO) development. Gordon frequently speaks about payment reform and ACO development at national health care conferences, including the 2011 Health Plan Innovations Congress and 2010 Accountable Care Organization Congress.
“Debbie is caring, hardworking, and incredibly dedicated to Network Health’s mission to improve the health and well-being of our members and their diverse communities,” said Christina Severin, Network Health president. “She is someone I can call on regardless of topic, and she will move a mountain to help me achieve the goal.”
Prior to Network Health, Gordon held roles as a senior category manager at Staples Inc., principal of the Parthenon Group in Boston, and director of marketing at John Snow Inc./Community Health Institute in New Hampshire. She holds a Master in Business Administration with distinction from Harvard Business School and a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Bioethics from Brown University.
Gordon is a member of the CMO Club; Harvard Business School Women’s Alumni Association; Harvard Business School Health Industry Alumni Association; and New England Society for Healthcare Communicators. Additionally, Gordon sat on the board of directors of Radcliffe Child Care Center, and currently sits on the board of directors of Parents’ Perspective Inc.
Gordon lives in Cambridge with her husband and two children.
The Boston Business Journal’s 2011 “40 Under 40” winners were recognized at a reception held at the State Room on Thursday, October 6, 2011. For more information, visit: http://www.bizjournals.com/boston/event/40681.
