Christina Severin
President

As president of Network Health, Christina Severin leads our strategic direction and manages our bottom line. She has overseen our dramatic growth since Massachusetts’ 2006 historic health care reform legislation. Prior to her role as president, Christina served as vice president and chief operating officer (COO) and as director of quality. Previously, Christina served as director of managed care and practice management for Health Services Partnership and practice manager at Codman Square Health Center, and as director of community health center services at Boston City Hospital. In 2005, Christina was named by the Boston Business Journal to its yearly list of “40 Under 40” business leaders to watch in the Greater Boston region. She has taught classes in health care administration at Tufts Health Care Institute (in collaboration with the World Health Organization) and Boston University’s School of Public Health. Also since 2003, Christina has been a Board Member of the Massachusetts Association of Health Plans, in 2005 was named a Board Member of the Association of Community Health Plans, and in 2008 joined the Association for Community Affiliated Plans’ executive committee.

Christina earned a Master in Public Health with a Health Services Concentration from Boston University School of Public Health and a Bachelor of Arts in Political Economy from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst.

 

 

 

Leanne Berge, Esq.
Vice President, Strategic Planning and Business Development

Leanne Berge is responsible for providing leadership for our new business lines and our relationship with state government and regulatory agencies for existing business lines. Leanne is also responsible for leading our strategic planning and ensuring that systems exist to monitor, measure, and communicate progress on our strategic goals. Prior to Network Health, Leanne served as principal of Berge Healthcare Strategies, senior vice president of network service and operations for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and as deputy general counsel for Harvard Pilgrim.

Leanne earned a Bachelor of Science in Politics from Brandeis University and received her Juris Doctor (JD) from Georgetown University. She is a member of the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, the Healthcare Financial Management Association, and the American Health Lawyers Association.

 

 

 

Michelle Bernard
Senior Director, Operations

Michelle Bernard is responsible for payment policies, claims processing, and customer service operations, while providing senior leadership for operational management and improvement, and oversight of business configuration and database systems. Michelle has also served as director of claims. Prior to Network Health, Michelle served as director of claims at Neighborhood Health Plan, claims manager at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, and claims supervisor at Bay State Health Care.

Michelle earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management from Southeastern Massachusetts University.

 

 

 

Peter Bristol
Senior Director, Information Technology

Peter Bristol oversees all of our information technology (IT) functions including the management of business software systems and development and support of the computing and telecommunications infrastructure. He also oversees our e-business activities, which includes our Web site, electronic data interchange (EDI) systems, and online provider and member services. In addition, he is responsible for analytics and business intelligence, which relays reports and analysis to our management team. Prior to becoming senior director of IT, Peter served as director of e-business and analytics, and as IT project manager at Network Health. Previously, Peter held technical and financial roles of increasing responsibility at Sutter Health of Santa Cruz, California.

Peter earned a Master of Economics and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Boston University.

 

 

 

Paul Burke
Senior Director, Network Management

Paul Burke is responsible for developing and managing our network of providers, including all hospitals, ancillary services, physicians, and behavioral health providers. Additionally, Paul handles provider enrollment, ongoing provider support, and education for physicians, facilities, and their administrative staff. He also provides leadership and operational oversight for executing our network growth, including expansion into new regions of the state. Prior to joining Network Health, Paul served as director of network management and contracting at Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan, and in several positions of leadership in health care contracting and provider relations with several organizations, including Cape Cod Healthcare, Harvard Pilgrim Health Care, and Delta Dental.

Paul earned his Bachelor of Arts in Human Development and Philosophy from Boston College.

 

 

 

Deborah Gordon
Senior Director, Marketing

Debbie Gordon leads our marketing strategy and implementation efforts, overseeing all advertising, branding, community outreach, field marketing, health promotions, membership trending and analysis, and public relations. Debbie served as director of marketing at Network Health before her promotion to senior director of marketing. Prior to Network Health, Debbie held roles as senior product manager at Staples, Inc.; principal of the Parthenon Group in Boston; and director of marketing at John Snow, Inc. (JSI)/Community Health Institute.

Debbie earned her Bachelor of Arts in Medical Bioethics from Brown University and a Master in Business Administration with honors from Harvard Business School.

 

 

 

Mary McKendry
Senior Director, Clinical Affairs

Mary McKendry is responsible for the overall operations of our medical management, behavioral health, and social care management teams. She implements processes to measure the program outcome quality and ensures our social care management remains a hallmark program. Prior to Network Health, Mary served as the director of health services at Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan; vice president of operations for Renaissance Health Care; and senior director of strategic relationships and consulting at McKesson Health Solutions.

Mary earned both a Master of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science from Franklin Pierce University in Rindge, New Hampshire. Mary earned her nursing degree from Salem Hospital School of Nursing.

 

 

 

Vincent C. Pina
Vice President, Human Resources

Vin Pina is responsible for leading our human resource functions, including planning, developing, and implementing policies and procedures. He also oversees administration of HR activities such as compensation, employee relations, recruiting, and benefits management. Prior to Network Health, Vin was a HR consultant for the Massachusetts Alzheimer’s Association; a regional manager at Challenger, Gray and Christmas; and a senior director of human resources for Polaroid, where he earned 20 promotions during his tenure.

Vin earned a Bachelor of Business Administration/Restaurant and Hotel Management from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. He also holds certifications in advanced human resources management and business efficacy.

 

 

 

Douglas Thompson
Vice President, Finance

Doug Thompson oversees our financial and accounting functions, leads our budget development and oversight, and ensures our compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies’ financial requirements. Prior to his role as vice president of finance, Doug served as chief financial officer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts’ Office of Medicaid; founder and managing director of Public and Private Solutions Group, LLC; and director of government business for Lexington, Mass.-based deNovis Inc. Doug also was a consultant at Public Consulting Group, and served as a health care policy analyst for the White House’s Office of Policy Development and Council of Economic Advisors

Doug earned a Master in Public Policy from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophical and Sociological Thought in Medicine from Boston University.

 

 

 

Pano M. Yeracaris MD, MPH
Vice President and Chief Medical Officer

Pano Yeracaris is responsible for Network Health’s clinical affairs team, which includes medical management, behavioral health, pharmacy services, and quality improvement. He also oversees Network Health’s clinical programs for members with chronic and acute medical conditions and special needs, such as asthma, diabetes, and physical disabilities, and the plan’s population wellness programs. Prior to Network Health, Pano served as chief medical officer of Health Services Partnership of Dorchester, Mass. and served as medical director for its two member health centers; served for 13 years as physician leader at Health Care Plan in Buffalo, NY; was an assistant clinical professor at the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine; and worked as a consultant for Capital University of Medical Sciences in Beijing, China and for a USAID Managed Care Project in Zimbabwe through the Harvard School of Public Health.

Pano served as a member of the board of directors at New England Eye Institute for eight years and currently is a member of the board of directors at the New England College of Optometry. He also served on the Massachusetts Health Drug Utilization Review Board. Pano earned a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Public Health from Harvard University. Pano earned his medical degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo, and completed his residency in family medicine at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is board certified in family medicine and is a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School.
